Breyden 350 Series DHS Heat-Shrinkable Polyester Tie Cord

The Breyden 350 Series DHS Tie Cord is a premium, flat-braided, heat-shrinkable lacing tape engineered specifically for securing the end turns of stators in electric motor and generator manufacturing. Formulated from high-tenacity continuous filament polyester, it features a specialized finish that dramatically reduces fraying and enhances knot-holding capabilities during installation.

During the varnish baking cycle, this tape shrinks by approximately 10% when exposed to 350°F, creating an ultra-tight, reliable hold that prevents any shifting or loosening of the windings. Rated for Class F applications (up to 155°C), it integrates seamlessly with electrical varnishes and potting resins for a unified insulation bond.

Applications

Primary Product Applications

The Breyden 350 Series (DHS) Tie Cord is engineered specifically for heavy-duty electrical insulation and coil management, particularly where components undergo thermal baking cycles. Key applications include:

  • Electric Motor Stator Manufacturing & Rewinding: Used extensively for end-turn lacing to bind and secure copper wire loops extending past the stator core laminations. Its 10% thermal shrinkage ensures the cord tightens drastically during the varnish bake/cure cycle, preventing coil vibration or rubbing during motor operation.
  • Generator Winding & Overhauls: Ideal for coil consolidation in large industrial or automotive generators. The high 400 lbs tensile strength resists intense centrifugal forces, while the flat polyester braid absorbs insulating resins to form a solid, monolithic block of insulation.
  • Transformer Production: Utilized to anchor copper leads, tie down core insulation layers, and isolate winding boundaries. With a Class F ($155^\circ\text{C}$) rating, it will not become brittle or degrade inside hot dry-type or oil-filled transformer enclosures.
  • Heavy-Duty Wire & Cable Harnessing: Deployed to bundle ultra-thick electrical cable trunks and wiring assemblies. The wide, flat profile distributes binding pressure evenly, preventing the cord from cutting into softer silicone or rubber wire jackets under high tension.
